March 18, 1901 - May 25, 1968
Mrs. Mabel A. Purifoy Brazeale, 67, of El Dorado died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital after a long illness. The daughter of Dr. Martial Westley and Katie Lee Atkins Purifoy, she was the widow of Joe D. Brazeale. She was a former resident of Chidester. She was a member of the Chidester Baptist Church; a charter and life member of the Nolan Bussell Post No. 244 of the American Legion Auxiliary; and a member of Henry G. Bunn Chapter No. 1032 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Survivors include two sons, W. R. Baker, El Dorado and Marion Baker, San Pedro, Sula, Honduras; two sisters, Miss Vada Belle Purifoy, Little Rock, and Mrs. V. W. Bergeron, New Orleans, La.; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Chidester Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Brian and Rev. Edward Turner officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery near Sparkman. Active pallbearers will be Doyle Dunn, Pete Brazeale, Harold Brazeale, Perry Joe Beaver, Robert Abbott and Don Brazeale. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion and Auxiliary of the Nolan Bussell Post No. 244. (El Dorado Times - May 27, 1968)
