Doyle Cooper, 90, of El Dorado, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home. He was born July 19, 1922, to Buel and Elizabeth McCombs Cooper in Ashdown, AR.
During WWII, Doyle was in the US Army Band and was stationed in New Caledonia and the Philippines. He graduated from the University of Arkansas and Louisiana Tech University. Doyle began a long career as band director for Junction City, Hermitage, and Norphlet School Districts. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado.
Preceding him in death are his parents; two sisters, Alta Russell, Bernice Turner; and a brother, Wayne Cooper.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Williams Cooper of El Dorado; one niece; and seven nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Brian Trostle and Rev. Ben Early officiating. There will be a private burial at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
