James Pendleton Herod, 87, of Fort Smith, AR. entered into rest on Friday, July 30, 2021 in Fort Smith, AR. He was born on January 14, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa to the late Harry and Merl (Owens) Herod.
He was retired from Merchants National Bank and he was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of The Korean War from 1953- 1957. He was a loving father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Herod, his sister Catherine Wilson and his brother-in-law Robert Wilson.
He is survived by his two sons Donald Herod of Fort Smith, AR. and Mark Herod of Lavaca, AR., four grandchildren, James Herod, Mark Herod, Jessica Herod and Hayden Herod and three great grandchildren Jax Herod, Leighton and Abel.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca, AR. with military honors. Interment will be at Hickory Ridge Cemetery in Lavaca, AR. Viewing will be from 9:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021 and family visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca, AR. Pallbearers will be Donald Herod, Mark Herod, Andy Herod, Mark Herod Jr. Hayden Herod and James Jester. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel in Lavaca, AR.
