Larry Dean Nickel, age 50, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Commerce, Oklahoma.
Larry was born August 15, 1960 in Springdale, Arkansas, son of Harold and Geraldine Nickel of Joplin. He graduated from high school and attended college prior to joining the United States Air Force. He worked for ECC Explosive Contract Carriers as a driver.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nychelle Goad.
He married Deborah E. Chasten on August 1, 1994, she survives. Additional survivors include his daughters, Amber Johnson and husband Uriah of Miami, Oklahoma, Ashley Knisley and husband Homer of Jasper, Missouri; step-children, Carol Goad and husband Travis of Diamond, Missouri, and Bill Chaddock and wife Heather of Wheaton, Missouri; parents, Harold and Geraldine Nickel of Joplin; grandchildren, David Helman, Lauren Helman, Carlie Barnes, Gatlin Knisley, Ely Knisley, Brice Goad, Alexandria Goad, Alaina Goad, Noah Goad, Michael Chaddock, Kristijan Chaddock, Abrianna Chaddock, and Eve Chaddock; great-grandchild, Capri Moss.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rick Harter officiating.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Nychelle Goad Memorial Mission Fund c/o SMB, or to Carterville Christian Church.
