William R. ‘Bob’ Adcox, 91, of El Dorado, AR; died on Friday, May 13, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born on February 20, 1925 in Dubach, LA; he was the son of John Berry Adcox and Ela Anna Elizabeth Rodgers Adcox. His mother died following childbirth and he was raised by his sister and her husband, Cora and George Bowman. They raised him as their own son, calling him Bobby Bowman.

Bob served as a flight engineer in the U. S. Army Air Corp in World War II and during the Berlin Airlift.

For many years he was employed by E. C. Hammond Oil Company and later retired in 1990 from Chevron Oil Company.

Bob was preceded in death by his precious baby grandson and namesake, William Jacob Griffin, his parents, his sisters: Nola Adcox, Grace Murphy, Pearl Henley, Elsie Johnson and Frances Megahan, and his brothers: Marion, Frank , Joe, James and J. B. Adcox along with Carlton, Lloyd, George and Tommy Bowman. Also preceding him in death are his parents-in-law, John Richmon and Mattie Burns and brothers-in-law, Richard and Bill Burns.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Bobbie Burns Adcox whom he cherished; his beloved daughters, Terrye (Jim) Stinson and Bonnye (Will) Griffin. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Brian (Tanya) Todd and their children, Lilah and Jax; Matt (Shannon) Griffin; Tracye (Don) Couture and their daughter Maddy; and Corinne (Olivier) Le Bihan and their children, Eliott and Emile along with Brian and Tracye’s father, Sid Todd. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and their families, Mary Alice Burns and her children, John, Paul (Beth) and Laura Burns; Kathryn Bowman, Linda Bowman, and a brother-in-law, C. H. “Mac” Megahan, along with many other nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Bob was a member of Second Baptist Church for many years and later in life became a member of College Avenue Church of Christ.

Graveside services at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens will be at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 14, 2016 with Brother Kent Jobe officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Saturday at Young’s Funeral Directors.

The family would like to thank the sweet ladies who cared for “Mr. Bob” at home: Norma Aaron, Dossie Frazier, and Regina Harris along with other kind caregivers from Life Touch Hospice
