August 21, 1834 - June 11, 1888
Husband of Martha Lovada Hall Lichlyter
On the image of the memorial stone for G. C. Lichlyter. the caption reads:
He came from Jefferson County Tenn. and died on June 11, 1888. That was about the time that Thomas Edison was starting to dream up things like light bulbs. Mr. Lichlyter was 53 years, 9 months and 21 days old. His grave sits alone in the middle of a pasture in Benton County, Arkansas. Behind the stone is a very small simple stone with the initials G.L. carved into it. I can assume that it was the original stone and that the family later got the money together to have this one made. (Its the footstone)
George C. Lichlyter was born on September 20, 1835, in Jefferson City, Tennessee, the child of David Denton and Mary Polly. He married Mary J. Smiley and they had one daughter together, Martha. He then married Martha Lovada Hall in September 1865. He died on June 11, 1888, at the age of 53. (Source: Gathering Roots, Findagrave.com)
