Funeral services for Paul Parnell, 64, of Route One, who was killed in a traffic accident in Farmerville, La., Monday morning will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Wyatt Baptist Church. Rev. J. D. Tolleson will officiate and the Rev. Floyd Taylor and Rev. Willie LaBeff will assist. Mr. Parnell, who was Wheeling Pipe Line's oldest driver, was born in New Bern, Tenn., Nov. 13, 1900, the son of Laura and Tom Parnell. He had lived in El Dorado since 1943, moving here from Little Rock. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Gladys Boyd Parnell; five sons, Harry Parnell of Washington D. C., J. W. Parnell of Galveston, Tex., Paul Stanley Parnell, Rodney Parnell and Tracey Parnell, all of El Dorado; a daughter, Mrs. Edsel Cates of Long Beach, Calif.; two stepsons, Delbert Meadows of Hampton and Jerry Harrell of Port Arthur, Tex.; and eight grandchildren. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young's. The body was taken to the family home Monday night and will remain there until one hour before the services. Active pallbearers will be L. H. Gill, Jr., Fred Worsham, H. A. Kennedy, Johnny Adams, Alfred Wages, Denny Herron, Price Garlington and C. L. Fowler. Honorary pallbearers will be employes of Wheeling Pipeline Inc. and of Newell White Motors. (The El Dorado Times - July 20, 1965)
