C. G. Echols, 65, of Norphlet died in a hospital in Ruston, La., Tuesday afternoon. Born Aug. 10, 1902, in Linden, Tex., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. N. Echols. A retired groceryman, Mr. Echols operated a business in Norphlet more than 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norphlet where he served as a deacon. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Adelle Daw Echols; two sons, Dr. Don B. Echols of El Dorado, and Glenn Echols of Ruston; one daughter, Mrs. N. P. Hudson of El Dorado; three sisters, Mrs. H. V. Caver and Mrs. R. R. Lyle, both of Atlanta, Tex., and Mrs. L. E. Carmichael of Hot Springs; two brothers, Earl Echols and Leslie Echols, both of Atlanta; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Norphlet with the Rev. Zane Chester officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young's. (El Dorado Times - October 4, 1967)
