Joy Jones Daymon, 86 of El Dorado, died November 14, 2014. She was born January 27, 1928 near Prescott, Arkansas to Coy Jones and Alma Honea Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, David Daymon and James (Jim) Daymon, a daughter, Deborah Watchman and a brother, Jerald (Jerry) V. Jones.

She is survived by a son, Michael Daymon of Colorado Springs, CO, seven grandchildren: Shane Daymon (Kristen) and Denise Kraayenbrink (Adam) of Chandler, AZ, Danny Daymon of Mesa, AZ, Heather Daymon and Maxx Daymon (Tami Wandell) of Colorado Springs, CO, Michele Michael (Richard) of Winchester, TN and Cherise Cervantes of Gentryville, IN, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Parks (George), of El Dorado and an aunt, Juantez Turnbow of Monroe, LA..

Joy was a licensed professional counselor and writer. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Long Beach State and Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. Her career in education ranged from classroom teacher and professor to educational examiner. After she retired from the El Dorado School system, she established a counseling and consulting business, primarily working with family court, which she actively operated into her 80s. In 2007 she was recognized as the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the Arkansas School Psychology Association. She authored several books including Rabbit Pancakes, a cookbook of the 1900s, and Princess Diana, Lamb to the Slaughter. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing many dresses for her granddaughters.

Joy was a charter member of Dumas Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as a lay leader, Sunday school teacher, secretary and organist. She was also a certified lay speaker.

Visitation will be held Tuesday November 18 from 6-8 at Perry’s Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 19 at 2:00 PM at Dumas Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Sylvia Nosic officiating with burial to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Perry's Funeral Chapels. Prior to the service, the church will serve lunch for the family at 12:00 PM. The family will receive visitors immediately following lunch. Memorials may be made to Dumas Memorial United Methodist Church.
