Trudie Margurite Dowdell Welch, 85, of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away on January 30, 2022, in El Dorado.
Trudie was born on January 5, 1937, near Gulf Shores, Alabama, to Kermit Morris Dowdell and Mary Glore Dowdell. Trudie worked for the First National Bank of El Dorado, National Bank of Commerce and Amercable. She was a popular substitute teacher for the El Dorado school system and a member of the College Avenue Church of Christ where she was a long-time Bible school teacher.
Trudie was known for her artistic talent and outgoing personality.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 61 years, James Robert Welch Sr.
Survivors include her sister, Carol Stegall, of El Dorado, and one brother, Edward Dowdell, of Ruston, LA, two sons, Jim Welch of El Dorado and Bob Welch (Monica) of The Woodlands, TX, two grandsons, Joshua Welch (Lauren) of Parker, Colorado, and Robert Welch of Maumelle, AR, two granddaughters, Caroline Welch of Galveston, TX, and Mary Ellen Welch of Magnolia, AR, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at the College Avenue Church of Christ- Family Life Center with Gary Schloemer officiating. Burial will be at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens following the service, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Welch, Robert Welch, Tony Jones, Mike Meadows, Mark Moore and Joe Turbeville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the College Avenue Church of Christ, The Children’s Home, Inc., 5515 Old Walcott Road, Paragould, AR 72450, or Southern Christian Children’s Home, 100 W. Harding St., Morrilton, AR 72110.
