Reserve Faulkner County Deputy, James W. Durham, 56, of Conway, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at his home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1955, Louisville, Ky., a son of the late James W. Durham Sr. and Lanelle Wheeler.
James was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, with the Military Police. He was a Reserve Deputy Sheriff with Faulkner County for over 15 years, and had served as Commander of the Reserve. He attended Moore Park College in Moore Park, Calif.; and was a graduate of Banning High School in Banning, Calif. James was also an ordained, Baptist Minister at Vilonia Baptist Fellowship Church.
James married Sherri Stultz in California, on Oct. 18, 1980. Sherri remembers how he loved fishing; and how they took trips to Orange Beach, Ala., yearly with their grandson, Alex. Also surviving are his daughters, Jessica Catherine Freyaldenhoven of Perryville, Shannon Lee Durham of Cabot; his grandmother, Catherine Durham of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; grandsons, Clayton Alexander Bowman of Conway, Grayson Maddox Belcher of Sherwood; brothers, Joe Durham of Harbor City, Calif., Earl Durham of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Eddie Durham of Las Vegas, Nev.; and his sister, Cathy Wheeler of San Pedro, Calif.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at the Vilonia Baptist Fellowship, 753 Highway 64 East, Vilonia, with Pastor Keith Harvey officiating.
Honors will be rendered by the Faulkner County Sheriff's Department, Conway Police Department and Conway Fire Department.
Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Leggett Conway, 501-327-5000.
