Julia Lynne Burton, passed away on May 9, 2022, at the age of 63, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Born January 4, 1959, in El Dorado, AR, she was the oldest child to Amelia Francille Buchanan and Vernon “Buck” Buchanan. She is preceded in death by her father, father in law: Frank Burton and the love of her life and husband for 39 years, Scott Burton.

She is survived and deeply missed by her children: Brandon Burton (Molly) of Hot Springs and Emily Pennington (Andy) of Vilonia; her mother: Amelia Francille Buchanan; her grandchildren: Kate Burton, Cooper Burton, Brooks Pennington, and Presley Pennington; her siblings: Leslie Roe (Jerry) and Alan Buchanan (Tami); her mother in law: Lyla Burton, her siblings-in-law: Pam Warren (Les) and Clay Burton (Kristi); and numerous nieces, nephews, and precious friends.

Julia graduated from Norphlet High School in 1977. She attended Harding University and Southern Arkansas University and received her degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught at Norphlet Elementary for 15 years where she touched many students’ hearts. Julia was an active member of College Avenue Church of Christ her whole life. She loved on many babies, as she taught the nursery bible class for over 40 years.

Julia loved her family and friends deeply. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She attended every activity she could, always supporting her children and grandchildren. For the last several years, she discovered a new hobby of gardening and became a Master Gardener. She loved volunteering on gardening projects in town and going on trips with friends to look at beautiful flowers. She enjoyed hosting game nights in her home with her friends. Julia had an infectious smile. She was a hard worker, joy giver, and loved to serve and help others. Her Christian example and courageous spirit will never be forgotten. Her love for her family and friends will always be carried in our hearts. While we grieve our loss, we celebrate her gain. Her faith has been made sight. She is healed. She is praising God beside the love of her life.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Young’s Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am Friday, May 13, 2022, at College Avenue Church of Christ. A private family burial will be under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to Lifetouch Hospice of El Dorado in memory of Julia Burton.
