September 23, 1920 - August 5, 2017
Emma Ruth McDaniel Davis age 96, of El Dorado, passed from this life on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Timberlane Health and Rehab Center in El Dorado. Ruth was born on September 23, 1920 in Drew County, AR near the town of Monticello, to the late Mattie Sue Meeks McDaniel and Alvin Spencer McDaniel. Ruth began working in the retail clothing business when she was just a young woman, having spent forty plus years working in downtown El Dorado for numerous ladies clothing stores including; Dixie Shops, Suzanne Shops, The New York Store, Mode O'Day and Charlie's Corner, many of which she managed. In addition to the clothing business, Ruth was also a caregiver, having taken care of her elderly mother for several years before her death in 1990. She was a member of First Assembly of God of El Dorado and was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She never complained, always had a positive attitude and always placed others before herself.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clifton B. McDaniel, Alvin Lamar McDaniel and Harold S. McDaniel; also, one sister, Naomi Ingram.
Survivors include; one son, Randy Davis and wife Patti of Hillsdale, NJ; three grandchildren, Jeff Davis of Biloxi, MS, Linley Honeycutt and husband Austin of El Dorado and Andy Davis and wife Tara of Hillsdale, NJ; three great granddaughters, Kenlee Honeycutt, Madelyn Honeycutt and Stella Honeycutt all of El Dorado; one sister, Bobbie Boulton of Paris, TX; five nieces, Linda Hays, Sandra Smith, Dianne Savage, Sheila Jones and Andrea Ostensoe; three nephews, Gerald Ingram, Carl Ray Ingram and Michael McDaniel. Six God Children and siblings to her son, Shirley Lundsford, Billy Ray Davis, Randall Davis, Marty Davis, Deborah Butler and Kathy Pointhieux, all of whom she treated like her own children.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Bailey Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Bailey Chapel with Bro. Bob Inmon officiating and assisted by Bro. Gerald Ingram and Bro. Jimmy Franklin. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Davis, Austin Honeycutt, Gerald Ingram, Jim Jones, Randall Davis and Marty Davis.
