Bobby Gene Godwin of El Dorado Arkansas passed away peacefully at Life Touch Hospice in El Dorado and went to be with the Lord at the age of 83 on January 29, 2021. He was born on November 20, 1937 to the late Gene and Florence (Burchfield) Godwin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Flo Talley, and brother, Earl Godwin.
He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church and contributed to the ministry by cooking delicious meals for his church family. He was a Navy veteran as well as a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed planting and harvesting his vegetable garden, making jelly, and taking his produce to the Farmer’s Market until he was 80 years old. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter and the cook at Hopewell Deer Camp for over 20 years.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Theresa J. Godwin, of El Dorado, daughter Lorri Gaines of Stamps; sons, Michael Godwin of North Ogden, Utah and Barry Godwin and wife Pam of Mena; and daughter Amy Cowling and husband Lance of Atlanta, Texas; sisters Patricia Payne of Magnolia and Libby Kirkpatrick of Shreveport, Louisiana; brothers David Godwin and wife Martha of Emerson, Oliver Godwin of Magnolia, Norman Godwin and wife Kathy of Chidester, and Travis Godwin of Marysville; stepsons, Charlie Bond and wife Vickie of Fayetteville, and David Bond and wife Jamie of Little Rock. Bobby is survived by several grandchildren, Sydney Jones and husband Zachary of Malvern, Zachary Godwin, Shelby Godwin and Bethany Godwin of Mena, Kelsey Martin and husband Tanner and Jacob Cowling of Atlanta, Tx; and one great grandson, Jett Martin of Atlanta, Tx.
Funeral services will be held at Youngs Chapel in El Dorado 11 am on Monday, February 1, 2021 with Bro. Clay Dickson officiating and assisted by Bro. Barry Godwin. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Galilee Baptist Church, 117 Galilee Rd, El Dorado, AR.
