Charles Edward Elrod, Sr., 68, of Conway, Arkansas, began his eternal life with Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at his home. He was born July 3, 1941, in Little Rock, a son of the late Robert Jennings and Mary Ruth (DeLeuil) Elrod. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathleen McCarthy, a sister, Norma Jean Bozardt and a brother, Robert Jennings, Jr.
Mr. Elrod was a retired Car Forman for Rock Island Rail Road, and later retired from the Conway Public Schools Maintenance Department. He was a charter member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Little Rock, and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway. He was a 4th Degree Honorary Knight with St. Theresa's Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Charlene Ann (Puett) Elrod of Conway; children, Kim Brewer and husband Mark of Mayflower; Angela McCarthy and husband John of Haslett, Texas; Charles Elrod, Jr. and wife Kim of Maumelle; Robert Elrod and wife Tiffany of Plano, Texas; Mark Elrod and wife Sandi of Rockwall, Texas; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 21, 2010, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Road, Little Rock, with Msgr. Jack Harris officiating. Rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday, in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway. 501-327-7727.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Humane Society Faulkner County, P. O. Box 1055, Conway, AR 72033.
