Gertrude Marie Norris, 101, of Conway went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2013. She was born on Sunday, November 17, 1912 in Aberdeen, SD to the late William and Catherine (Deschner) Hirsch.

She had been a resident of Conway since 1963. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over seventy years. She brightened every life with whom she came into contact. She loved music and was one of the first recording artists. Singing in early bands, on radio, concerts, and with orchestras in the 20's, 30's, and 40's until marrying Al Norris in 1947. She will be missed by her family and many many friends. She was the "Rock" of our family and the Light of Our Future. She owes her longevity to family, friends, and staff at College Square.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Norris and Robert Norris; daughter, Mary Kay Sullivan; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Alvin O. Norris; and brothers, Bernard Hirsch and Robert Hirsch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Conway. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway.

Memorials may be made to any of the music departments of our local schools.
