Don L. Collins, 77, of Conway, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016. He was born on April 25, 1939, in Lamesa, Texas, to the late Obray Lee Collins and Katie Goodson Collins and he is preceded in death by his parents.

Dr. Collins attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Florida State University and St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City. He served as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Fernandina Beach, Florida. First Baptist Church, Live Oak Florida, Dawson Street Baptist Church, Thomasville, Georgia and First United Methodist Church, Benton, Arkansas. He came to Conway in 1970 and taught Choral Music Education at University of Central Arkansas until 2007. He founded Cambiata Press, Cambiata Vocal Music Institute of America, and Arkansas Boys Choir. Dr. Collins wrote two textbooks and a Sight Reading Method for Junior High School Students and published numerous octavos for middle school students.

Dr. Collins is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Smith Collins, three sons, Pascal Shay Collins, Christopher Lee Collins and Jonathon Cooper Collins (Karen); 7 grandchildren, a sister, Carolyn Huddleston, and a niece and nephew.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Saturday, October 29, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Conway. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Music Ministry, First United Methodist Church, Conway, Arkansas.
