Martha "Polly" (Parrott) Bumpers, 92, of Conway died at Heritage Living Center on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. She was born on October 29, 1925, in Tuckerman, AR to the late Joseph T. and Ida (Tims) Parrott. Polly was a 1947 graduate of Hendrix College. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John Phillip "Phil" Bumpers. Polly was a lifelong active member of First United Methodist Church of Conway. She was a member of P.E.O., Chapter E and Conway Civic League. Polly and Phil owned and operated Bumpers and Smith Clothing Store from 1971 to 1981.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Thomas Parrott, Jr; one son, John Thomas Bumpers and one grandson, William Lee Rogers.

Polly is survived by her children; Dianne Bumpers Rogers and husband Bill, of Jonesboro, AR, Joe Bumpers and wife Jackie, and daughter-in-law Martha Bumpers all of Conway; grandchildren: Laura Rogers Simpson and husband Steve, Phillip Bryce Rogers, Polly Rogers McMellon and husband Jeremy, Jeri Rogers, Anne Bumpers Newman and husband Scott, Clay Bumpers and wife Kisha, Phillip Bumpers and wife Adrienne, Zachary Bumpers and wife Samantha, Ryan Bumpers, Catherine Bumpers, Elizabeth Bumpers; great-grandchildren: Emily Simpson, Lacey Simpson, Lilly Rogers, Anna Rogers, Sophie Rogers, Will McMellon, Clay McMellon, Jack McMellon, Drew McMellon, Leah McMellon, Abby Newman, William Newman, Kayla Bumpers, and Alec Bumpers; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bumpers Dow and husband Bob, niece, Bonnie Bumpers and a host of other family and friends.

The family gratefully acknowledges all of Polly's doctors, nurses, and caregivers for the excellent care she received at Heritage Living Center and from Kindred Hospice.

A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Conway at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Michael Roberts and Rev. Lauren DeLano officiating. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Bethlehem House of Conway.

John Phillip Bumpers, 89, of Conway, died at home on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. He was born on November 22, 1924 in Charleston, AR to the late Harold H. and Carrie Bumpers. Phil was a 1947 graduate of Hendrix College. He was married to Martha “Polly” Parrott Bumpers for seventy years. Phil served in the United States Army during World War II as a Lt. After the war; he returned to Conway and served as Commander of Company G for the Arkansas National Guard. Phil served as Hendrix College Treasurer from 1947 to 1971. He and Wilburn Smith owned and operated Bumpers and Smith Clothing Store from 1971 to 1981. Phil was a lifelong active member of First United Methodist Church in Conway.

He is also preceded in death by one son; John Thomas Bumpers, and one grandson; William Lee Rogers.

Phil is survived by his loving wife Polly Bumpers, Children; Dianne Bumpers Rogers and husband Bill, of Jonesboro, AR, Joe Bumpers and wife Jackie, and daughter-in-law Martha Bumpers of Conway, grandchildren; Laura Rogers Simpson and husband Steve, Phillip Bryce Rogers, Polly Rogers McMellon and husband Jeremy, Anne Bumpers Newman and husband Scott, Clay Bumpers and wife Kisha, Phillip Bumpers and wife Adrienne, Ryan Bumpers, Zachary Bumpers, Catherine Bumpers, Elizabeth Bumpers, great-grandchildren; Emily Simpson, Lacey Simpson, Lilly Rogers, Anna Rogers, Sophie Rogers, Will McMellon, Clay McMellon, Jack McMellon, Drew McMellon, Abby Newman, William Newman, Kayla Bumpers, one sister; Carolyn Bumpers Dow and husband Bob, and a host of other family and friends.
