Mary Lee Carter Williams was born at home in North Little Rock, Arkansas July 26, 1927.

She died at Stuart, Florida on, March 18, 2020 at the age of 92.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents George Arthur Carter, and Velma Elizabeth Yandell Carter and her three brothers George Edward, Floyd Earl, and Melvin Leroy Carter.

Mary grew up at Mayflower and Conway where she graduated from High School in 1945. Mary earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Ouachita Baptist College in 1952 and taught in Benton, Arkansas public schools.

She married Lawrence Carroll Williams June 3, 1954 at Benton, Arkansas.

She and her husband lived in Seattle, Washington for a time where Mary became a flight test data programmer for the first commercially successful jetliner in aviation history, the Boeing 707. She continued working with Boeing through 1958 and performed flight test data programming for the B-52 bomber program both at Seattle and in Wichita, Kansas.

Mary taught science and biology in Miami Dade County Florida public schools. She earned her master’s degree in library science at the University of Denver and served for twenty years as librarian for Arvada Senior High School in Jefferson County Colorado.

Following retirement Mary and her husband lived first in Tallahassee, Florida where she became active with the Tallahassee Symphony orchestra and assisted with publications for TSO.

Later, Mary and her husband lived for 6 years in a beachfront home at Indialantic, Florida and moved to Conway, Arkansas in 2001 to be nearer to family members.

Mary and her husband are members of the First United Methodist Church of Stuart Florida. They are members of Faulkner County Retired Teachers Association, and Conway Writers Group. She and her husband were proud sponsors of the Conway Symphony Orchestra.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Cremation will be followed by interment of cremains in columbarium space D9 at First United Methodist Church in Conway, Arkansas at a yet to be determined date.
