Mr. Joseph Lambert, 70, of Monticello, died Sunday June 21, 2009 at the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana. Mr. Lambert was a native of Nacogdoches, Texas; a resident of Monticello since 1995 and a former resident of Chula Vista, California. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University and he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a Social Service Case Worker for San Diego County in California and he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Monticello.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Edna Mae Whitmire Lambert.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys Cason Lambert of Monticello; a step-son, Glen Deckelman of Monticello; a step-daughter, Ann Andrews and husband, Mike, of Fountain Hill; a sister, Martha Ruth Medley and husband, Gene, of Lubbock, Texas and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Flat Creek Cemetery with Rev. Gene Medley officiating. Memorials may be made to the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home, 6700 HWY 165 North, Monroe, LA 71203; the First United Methodist Church, 317 S. Main Street, Monticello, AR 71655 or to the donor's favorite charity.
