*When Luther Frederick Gordy was born on July 24, 1919, in Columbus, Georgia, his father, Luther, was 40 and his mother, Annie, was 34. He married Marijo Perry on December 29, 1944. They had three children during their marriage. He died on May 19, 2001, in Conway, Arkansas, at the age of 81.
