James Lane
Died May 29, 1906
aged 54 years
Son of Daniel Lane and Nancy J. Ellis.
Leslie News~June 2, 1906~Died at 9 o'clock, Tuesday night, at the residence of Jefferson Lane in this city, James Lane, aged 54 years. He passed away after a lingering illness of over two years. Mr. Lane was born in St. Joe in this county, but had been living in Texas a greater portion of his life. He was a carpenter by trade and his death was supposed to be due from an accident which happened over two years ago. He came from Van Alystyne, Texas, about three months ago and made rapid strides toward recovery for awhile, but about three weeks ago he commenced to grow worse. He leaves behind him to mourn his death, a brother and sister, Jefferson Lane of this city and Mrs. Martha Sanders, of Marshall. He was a member of Van Alstyne Lodge No. 268, I.O.O.F., of Van Alstyne, Texa. He was buried Tuesday at 4 o'clock p.m. at the Leslie Cemetery under the auspices of the Odd Fellows.
