U.S. Veteran John Walford Carlson, 93, of Harrison, died at Mt. Vista Nursing Home in Harrison.
He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in McPherson, Kan., to Otto W. and Elizabeth Carlson.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a member of Diamond City First Baptist Church. Most of all he loved the Lord, his wife and children.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include: his wife of eight and a half years, Shirley A. Carlson, formally of Pennsylvania; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Layth Carlson and wife Daria of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; and Johnny Carlson of Turrlock, Calif.; one daughter, Sherryl Campbell and husband, Jack of Eldorado, Calif., two stepchildren, Corinna Horton and husband Doug of Diamond City, and Brian Richard and wife Jamie of Harrison; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Diamond City with Pastor Don Rose officiating.
Funeral services are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville.
