LITTLE ROCK, AR - A. Louis Farmer, 80, of Little Rock, AR, passed away September 8, 2010. He was born February 1st, 1930 to the late Samuel Madison and Leona Farmer in Shreveport, La.

He graduated from Northwestern Louisiana University in 1951, and served in the Korean War as a Sergeant Combat Medic from January 1952 through December 1953. He began his career as a life insurance salesman in 1954 and moved his family to Little Rock in 1962 to join the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. An active sportsman, he was a football official with the Arkansas Officials Association for over 30 years, officiating high school football games statewide and served as an officiating officer for the AOA. He was a long-term member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Little Rock and served as Usher, Junior Warden and member of the Vestry Committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his three brothers, Samuel Madison, Jr. ("Bubba"), George Warren, and Shelton Allison. He is survived by his two daughters, Ann Cottrell (Will) and Kay Carle, son Mark Farmer (Sandra), grandchildren Mitchell Farmer (Tiffany), Alex Carle, Wesley Farmer, Hunter Carle, Christian Carle, great grandchildren Ashlynn Farmer and Brayden Carle, and a host of nieces, nephews and their children.
The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the Hogan Home for Disabled Veterans and the extraordinary staff at the Palatable Care Unit of the VA Hospital in Little Rock.

A memorial service will be held at St. Marks Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Mississippi in Little Rock at 2:00pm Monday, September 13. Honorary Pallbearers are Mitchell Farmer, Wesley Farmer, Hunter Carle, and Christian Carle.
