Location: 34.399067, -92.631675. This cemetery is overgrown and has been neglected. It is on private property and permission is needed from the owner to visit. The cemetery is in the woods, approximately 1,100 feet behind the house at 5505 HWY 229 N. Some of the photographs I took of the grave markers of Nydai Cemetery were broken and missing pieces, so I am going to take the born and died dates from a survey taken by Charlotte Curlee Ramsey in 2010. The Community of Nydia was settled by former slaves and their descendants after the Civil War. The only visible sign of the community today is a cemetery (Nydia Cemetery). Nydia was located between Fenter and the Saline
County line along Highway 229. This history was found in a publication of the 150th Anniversary of Grant County. Courtesy of the Grant County Museum.
