William "Tom" Baxter, 83, of McNeil, Arkansas died Monday, January 25, 2010 at his home in McNeil.
He was born on March 4, 1926 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to the late Arch and Della (Walters) Baxter. He was a decorated veteran in the United States Army during World War II where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the VFW Post 3600 and the American Legion Post 1000 in Missouri and a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans in Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wilma Gates.
Tom is survived by his wife Betty Baxter of McNeil, Arkansas; three daughters, Diana Underwood of Ramona, California, Dorothy Ayala of Menifee, California, Julie Ross of Temple, Texas; three sisters, Kathryn Miller of St. Joseph, Missouri, MariLee Warren of Milton, Florida, Ann Mason of Mount Juliet, Tennessee; four grandsons, five granddaughters, and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10:00 am at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Zane Gray officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Family visitation will be Thursday evening at the funeral home.
