Mary Virginia Riddick of McNeil, AR went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 88 on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the John R. Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado, Arkansas.
She was born September 3, 1928 in McNeil, AR and lived her entire life there. She met the love of her life Boyd Junior Riddick and they were married on May 26, 1945 in Stephens, AR.
Virginia gave her life to her Lord at an early age and was a member of the College Hill Baptist Church since 1956. She was employed with Aramark Professional Food Service and other food services at Southern Arkansas University for 39 years. She was known as “Miss Virginia” by her coworkers and students. During those 39 years, she touched numerous lives. She was a very independent lady known as being very stern but passionate, kind and a loving lady that had an infectious smile. Not only at work but she also loved her precious neighbors and friends.
Over the many years she became known for her famous chocolate pies and other recipes that she made. She loved cooking and doing things for her friends and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Opal (Miller) Brazell; husband of 65 years Boyd Junior Riddick; grandparents and other family members.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories are her son Larry Riddick of McNeil; two grandchildren Chae Riddick of McNeil and Brandi Barge of Magnolia; four great grandchildren, Cesley and husband Brandon Johnson of Olla, LA, Alexis and Heather Barge of Magnolia, and Cadyn Riddick of Austin, AR; one great-great granddaughter Kylie Faith; a sister in law Marie Davis of Stephens; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends.
A special thanks to Dr. Ked Davis and staff and to the staff at the John R Williamson Hospice House in
El Dorado for the wonderful care given to our mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 8 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Cole officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Life Touch Hospice, 2301 Champagnolle, El Dorado, AR 71730.
Pallbearers will be Mike Blair, Kelly Blair, Alain Verbeiren, Steven Ochs, Derek Avery, and Sammy Brazell.
