Michael W. Gunter, Sr., 70, of McNeil, AR left this earth and entered the gates of heaven to be united with his Lord and his family on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia.
Michael was born in Magnolia, AR to the late Franklin and Martha Jean (Byrd) Gunter. He was a poultry farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in McNeil, where he served as security officer. He was a member of the McNeil Rural Fire District Board of Directors, McNeil Rural Water Association Board of Directors, and a charter member of the Gunter Deer Camp.
Michael is survived by his wife Jacky Gunter of McNeil; sons Ronnie (Christy) Gunter of Lillie, LA, Donnie Gunter (Nancy Newman) of Magnolia, and Michael “Mikey” Gunter, Jr. of McNeil; step son Jerry (Gloria) Thompson of Many, LA; brother Gary (Patsy) Gunter of McNeil; sister Kay (Sam) Sharp of McNeil; grandchildren Brandon Gunter and Donnie (Aubrey) Gunter of Magnolia; Zachary (Kadee) Gunter of El Dorado, Morgan Gunter of Clarksville, Taylor (David) Gray of Carthage, TX, Kaley (Galin) Newlin of Bismarck, Jamie (Grant) Brewster of Gurdon; great grandchildren Elliott Newlin of Bismarck, Isabella Beeman of Clarksville, Mitchell Brewster and Madison Brewster of Gurdon; special cousins Wiley (Judy) Duke of Prescott and Fran (Bill) Givens of McNeil; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in McNeil with Bro. Danny Bullock and Bro. David Watkins officiating. A private family graveside will be held in the New Hope Cemetery at a later date.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Gunter Deer Camp.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church, 451 Gum, McNeil, AR 71752.
