*When Iona V Mardis was born on September 4, 1902, in Arkansas, her father, Asa, was 30, and her mother, Alice, was 28. She married Jessie W Smith on February 8, 1920. They had four children during their marriage. She died on July 16, 1973, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 70, and was buried there.
