*When Roy Dye Thornton was born on December 20, 1893, in Arkansas, his father, John, was 35 and his mother, Ella, was 31. He married Lucy McCulloch on December 21, 1916. He then married Mattie Ivey on May 2, 1924, in Arkansas City, Arkansas. He died on June 22, 1971, in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 77, and was buried there.
