BELLA VISTA — Jim N. McMillen, 74, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, at Circle of Life Hospice, Legacy Village. He was born May 19, 1941, in Wichita, Kan., to the late Ruth Colgan Woodruff. She married Clarence Woodruff when Jim was 11 years old. He was a loving stepdad.
Jim served in the U.S. Army in Europe. While there, he was on the U.S. Army All Basketball Team. He received his B.A. from Park College, Parkville, Mo., MSE and Education Specialist from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Mo.
During Jim's career, he was a Physical Education teacher, coached basketball, baseball and track and was a basketball recruiter. After moving to Bella Vista, he was a high school and SEC Women's Basketball Official.
Jim had a 26-year career as a PGA of America Class A-1 golf professional at the Bella Vista Country Club associated with the POA. He was a member of the PGA of America, South Central Section PGA, NWAR Corvette Club, Oklahoma Chapter NCRS, Black Top Nationals, National Corvette Museum, and First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista Jim was a car enthusiast and his knowledge will be missed.
Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen; two sister-in-laws; two nieces, one nephew; two grandnieces and two grandnephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd, Bella Vista, Ark.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, Circle of Life Legacy Village or First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista.
Interment will be at a later date in the Fayetteville V.A. National Cemetery.
