Floy Belle Safley Chapman, age 89, of Russellville, Arkansas, died May 7, 2001 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was the widow of James Winston Chapman and the daughter of William Stanley and Sarah Jane Garner Safley.

Mrs. Chapman was a retired nurse and a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and the Women's Prayer Fellowship. She was also a member of the Current Book Review Club, the Russellville Shakespeare Club, the American Association of Retired Persons, The American Legion Auxilary, the Flying Needles Sewing Club, Friendly Neighbors Sewing Club, the Democratic Womens Club, the Crochet Club, The Bridge Club, and the Christian Women's Club.

She is survived by one son and daughter in law, Brig. General Robert E. and Helen Chapman of Shalimar, Florida; one daughter, Charlotte Jane Shinn of Russellville; two grandchildren, Colonel Robert E. Chapman II of the U.S. Air Force and Julie Downes of Webb City, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Chelsea Faye Chapman, Shelby Linn Chapman, Richard Downes and Nathan Downes.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, William and Sarah Safley; a brother, Luther Safley; a sister, Jessie Duvall.
