ROGERS — Winfred Stuart Huckabee, 85, of Rogers died July 2, 2004, of injuries suffered from an automobile accident in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Hope to Walter Benjamin and Amanda Nicols Huckabee. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Ardennes, Rhineland, Normandy, North France, Central Europe and the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded five Bronze Stars. He was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and was a member of the American Order of the French Croix de Guerre Inc.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sue Huckabee of the home; one sister, Mavis C. Huckabee Smith of North Little Rock; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held later at Hope.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, Memorial Processing Center, P.O. Box 1653, Topeka, Kan. 66601-1653.
Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.
