November 10, 1907 - July 25, 1964
Two Dover residents were killed when the truck in which they were riding went out of control on a mountain log road near Clarksville and went over a 20 foot cliff.
Sheriff H.C. Arnold of Johnson County identified the dead as Leslie Fowler, 56, and Mrs. Jewell Murphy, 47, both of Dover.
Fowler, of Bell Gardens, Cailf., was a native of Dover, an outdoor sign advertiser and a veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Julia Fowler of Maywood, Calif; two sons, James E. Fowler of Riverside, Calif. and Hershel W. Fowler of the U.S. Navy in Hawaii; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Jones and Mrs. Julia Ramstein, both of Richmond, Calif; a brother, Louis H. Fowler of Paso Robles, Calif; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Dykes of Amite, LA., Mrs. Nell Dunaway of Wichita, KS., and Mrs. Stella Sharp of Maywood, Calif., and six grandchildren.
Funeral services for Fowler will be at 1:30 Wednesday at the Dover Assembly of God Church by the Rev. A.C. Boocher. Burial will be in McFadden Cemetery in Dover.
