Bennie M. Lay, 77, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at his home.

He was born August 25, 1929, at Dover to Ben Leslie and Ila Lucille McCain Lay. He was a maintenance supervisor for Sugar Creek Creamery for 47 years and attended the Gately Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Dardanelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Moffatte Lay; and a sister, Elizabeth Collie.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bennie Jean Dodson of Shreveport, Louisiana, Sue Ann and Bill Strait of Russellville, and Brenda and John Phipps of Russellville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Roger and Sue Lay of Dover and Paul Lay of Russellville; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ina Delle and Tom Cloud, Ila Jean Anderson, Sue and Kenneth Rutledge, and Jo Ann Owens all of Dover; a grandson and his wife, Matthew and Barbara Dodson of Shreveport, Louisiana; a great grandson, Nicholas Dodson of Shreveport; and a special friend, Roxie Witt Etzkorn of Dardanelle.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2007, at the Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Howell officiating. Burial will be in McFadden Cemetery at Dover under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.

Pallbearers will be Sam Reeves, Scott Griffin, Carrol Ingram, Roger Lee, Frank Etzkorn, and Scott Van Horn.
