Dr. Samuel W. Ruff, 76, of Dover, well known Pope county physician, died Friday at St. Mary's hospital.

A son of the late Dr. D.P. Ruff and Minnie Truett Ruff, he was a native of Point Peter, Searcy county, born in 1881.

He was graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Little Rock, April 30, 1908 and rendered medical services to a number of Arkansas communities for many years both as a private physician and with the United States Public Health Service. He joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church, the Woodmen of the World and the Woodman Circle when a young man.

He is survived by his son, David Martelle Ruff of Dallas, Texas, and his sister, Miss Elizabeth Ruff of the home.

Funeral services will be held at three o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Cumberland Presbyterian church in Dover. Burial will be in McFadden Cemetery.

First married to Belle Turner January 18, 1903; Second to Tessie Maud Priestly October 17, 1908. Samuel had his only child, David Martelle Ruff, with Tessie Maud.

Miss Minnie Elizabeth Ruff, 74, of Dover died today at St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs.

She was a lifelong resident of Dover, daughter of the late Dr. David P. Ruff and Minnie Truett Ruff. She was the treasurer of the Dover Cumberland Presbyterian church, and a member of the Dover Extension Homemakers and the Women's Woodman of the World.

Miss Ruff was Dover correspondent for The Courier-Democrat for many years.

Survivors include a nephew, David Martelle Ruff of Madeira Beach, Fla.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in McFadden Cemetery.
