Bruce Elmo Thornton, 80, a resident of Dover, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at his home.

He was born April 1, 1931, in Durrant, Oklahoma to Walter F. and Maggie Gustavy Rambo Thornton. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was a former volunteer firefighter with the Hatley Fire Department. After retiring from truck driving, he and his wife raised poultry for Tyson Foods for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lynn and Clara Derryberry; several brothers and sisters; and a brother-in-law, A. D. Derryberry.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Deanie Thornton of Dover; four sons, John Thornton of California, Jess Thornton of San Luis Obispo, California and Dwight and Doyle Thornton, both of Oklahoma; two daughters, Julie Mars of London and Jennie Keller of Russellville; a brother, Walter "Bud" Thornton Jr. of California; two sisters, Dorothy Hambrick of Texas and Betty Lynch of California; a sister-in-law, Lynn Phipps of Dover; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Derryberry of Dover; five grandchildren, Michael Keller Jr., Sara Diane Mars, Shayna Laurie Mars, Michael John Thornton and Travis Thornton; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces; and other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at McFadden Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the V. F. W. Rogers-Rye Post 2283.
Pallbearers will be Otis Hessling, Kenneth Derryberry, Mike Keller, Ray Goyne Jr., Glenn McNown and Lance McCabe.

June 29, 1937 - August 27, 2017

Deanie Thornton, age 80, of Russellville, died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Legacy Heights Nursing and Rehab. She was born on June 29, 1937, in Pope County to Lynn and Clara Derryberry.

She was baptized at North Ridge Christian Church and was a former volunteer at the Hatley Fire Department.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Elmo Thornton; a daughter, Julie Mars; and a brother, A.D. Derryberry.

Survivors include two sons, John Lee Thornton of Tucson, Arizona, and Shugar Ray Thornton of Stockton, California; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Mike Keller of Russellville; a brother, Kenneth Derryberry of Dover; a sister, Lynn Phipps of Dover; three grandchildren, Shayna Mars, Sara McCabe, and Michael Keller Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Kaylie, Blake, Natalie, and Dean.

A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at McFadden Cemetery and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Pallbearers are Mike and Michael Keller, Anthony and Hunter Thomesen, Kenneth Derryberry, and Jeremy Samples.
