Howard Dean Curtis, 82, of Judsonia, departed this life on December 25, 2008. He was the son of Howard and Cassie Curtis of Lead Hill, Arkansas. After graduating from Lead Hill High School, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and spent most of his deployment in Italy, serving as a medical technician at the 392nd General Hospital, attending the war-wounded. He received an education degree at Harding College, and became a school teacher, coach and high school principal. After retirement, he worked for the Arkansas Stabilization Conservation Service and the Soil Conservation Service until full retirement.
Dean loved teaching and helping others. He worked hard and played hard. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He led singing for worship services in the church of Christ, for funerals, and Gospel meetings over the county. He was an elder and a Bible class teacher in the church of Christ for over 40 years.
Dean leaves a large family including his wife (Glenave) of 57 years; four children, Donna Root (Mike), Kathy Haugh (Kevin), Carol Kell, and Randy Curtis (Brenda); twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank (Earline), Burl (Evelyn), and Ervin (Pauline); a brother-in-law, Jerry Eubanks (Barbara); and a host of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his sister (Bernice) and a brother (Harl).

Era Glenave Curtis, 87, of Searcy, died on Saturday, June 30, 2018. She was born April 28, 1931, in Senath, Missouri, the daughter of Glen and Era Breckenridge Eubanks.
Glenave is survived by three daughters, Donna Root and husband Mike, Kathy Haugh and husband Kevin, and Carol Jones and husband Craig; one son, Randy Curtis and wife Brenda; a brother, Jerry Eubanks and wife Barbara; 14 grandchildren, Deborah, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Tiffany, Megan, Zach, Kaitlyn, Kin, Kristi, Kreg, Rees, Elaine, Rachel, and Tara; 37 great-grand-children, and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dean Curtis.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the College Church of Christ. Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the funeral services in Bethlehem Cemetery in Judsonia.
