Christine Upchurch Hill, 98, of Magnolia, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She joined her husband in heaven on his birthday. Christine was born on March 2, 1921, in Queen City, Texas, to Jessie Monroe Upchurch and Mattie Lou Green Upchurch.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rev. Clyde Hill, and four sons, Troy Hill, Daniel Hill, Bobby Hill and infant James Paul Hill; five brothers, two sisters and granddaughter, Charlette Downing.

Christine is survived by sons Raymond Hill and wife Julia of Bossier City, LA, Caleb Hill and wife Linda of Haughton, LA, and David Hill and wife Jane of Magnolia, AR and daughter Margaret Hill Stephenson and husband of Dewayne of Benton, LA.; sister, Juanita Wilson of Atlanta, TX; brother, George Upchurch of Genoa, AR. grandchildren, Kim (Winfried) Dixon, Randy (Robin) Hill, Becky (Kerry) Jeffers, Wayne Stephenson, Rev. Donavon (Valerie) Hill, Carrie Hill, Kevin (Dannielle) Hill, Chris Hill, Shannon (Kevin) Brewer, Jonathan (Aimee) Hill, eighteen great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Christine married Clyde Hill on November 21, 1938 in Cass County Texas. In 1940 she and her husband received the baptism of the Holy Ghost under the ministry of Rev. E. J. DeLuish and his wife. In 1946 the young couple moved to Lambertine, Arkansas, to pastor the United Pentecostal Church there. In the early 1950's, the church was moved to Waldo, AR.

Christine was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting and cooking. Her cooking was so well liked she was nick named the World's Best Cook. She had a very strong work ethic. She made multiple quilts for all her children and their spouses, each grandchild, great-grandchild and great-great grandchild. These special quilts are cherished by all. She was part of a group that went to the local nursing homes weekly to sing and play music for the residents and staff.

A special thanks to her caregivers in recent weeks, Edna Caldwell, Patricia Parker and the staff of Encompass Hospice.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Magnolia, AR with her grandson officiating, Rev. Donavon Hill, pastor of LifePoint Church in Prairieville, LA, assisted by Rev. John Howell of North Little Rock, AR. Interment will be in the Waldo Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of El Dorado, AR.
