BENTONVILLE — Shirley C. Kamarit, 96, of Bentonville, died Aug. 19, 2011, in Bentonville, Ark. She was born in Chicago, Ill., to the late Clarence and Ethel Underwood. She was the loving wife of the late Edward Kamarit.

Shirley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville and the Pioneer Club. She donated to many charities, among which were the American Heart Association, Cancer Society and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She was very active in the Girl Scouts, and volunteered her time with food and clothing drives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Kamarit; her sister, Virginia Barry.

She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Troy and husband, James, of Bentonville, and Jean Kass and husband, Tom, of Richfield, Minn.; a brother, Robert Underwood of Elmhurst, Ill.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville, 901 N.E. J St., Bentonville, Ark., with the Rev. Arthur Fogartie officiating.
