Harold H. Fincher, 83 of Waldo, Arkansas died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was born September 20, 1928 in Waldo, Arkansas to the late Herbert and Edna (Clark) Fincher. Harold was a graduate of Waldo High School and Magnolia A&M College. He attended Kemper Military School, the University of Arkansas School of Law where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Banking. Harold was the past President and CEO and was currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Peoples Bank of Magnolia and Waldo. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Magnolia where he taught Sunday school, was a lay speaker, a member of the Administrative Council Board, and a Stewpot volunteer. He was a past board member of the Abilities Unlimited and the Literacy Council and a current member of the Southern Arkansas University Foundation (SAU), the Columbia County Community Foundation and was the Treasurer of the Arkansas Bankers Association. Harold was a Boy Scout leader, a volunteer for Care Net, a volunteer Fireman, a Gideon, served on mission trips to Honduras, attended and volunteered on Emmaus Walks, involved with the SAU Writing Festival, the Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow and assisted with numerous charitable fundraisers. He was the Magnolia Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, SAU Distinguished Alumnus, and Fincher Hall at Southern Arkansas University was named in his honor. Harold was a loving and loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, snow skiing, and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Sawyer and husband Wallace; and step mother, Mabel Fincher. Survivors are his wife, D.J. Fincher of Waldo; son, Dr. Steven Clark Fincher and wife Terrye of Searcy; daughters, Mary Fowler and husband Charles of Magnolia and Betty Harris and husband Dr. Stan Harris of Little Rock; grandsons, Jonathan Baird and wife Emily of Magnolia, Dr. Brian Baird and wife Ashley of Jacksonville, Florida, Stephen Harris of Little Rock; granddaughters, Ashley Franz and husband Dr. Justin Franz of Searcy, Amy Pickens and husband Josh of Albany, New York, Kelly Brown and husband Brandon of Little Rock, Molly Fincher of Searcy, Katie Harris of Little Rock, and Savannah Harris of Little Rock; step grandson, C.J. Fowler and daughter Lauren of Houston, Texas; great grandchildren, Addie Leigh Baird, Piper Baird, Haddon Baird, Bradley Franz, Michael Franz, Natalee Franz; sister, Betty Scott and husband Gerald of Shreveport, Louisiana; brother-in-law, William Travis Jackson and wife Peggy of Albuquerque, New Mexico; the Peoples Bank Family; and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Kelso and Rev. Raymond Cammack officiating. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.
