The Story of a Great Man!



A time to be born

November 4, 1933, Alvie Ellis Sr, was brought into this life from the union of Herman Ellis and Ethel Banks in Homer Louisiana.



A time to transition

February 6, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. Alvie peacefully left this body to be with the Lord forever. Those completed the journey before him his parents, three siblings, one son, two daughters, and two wives.



A time to love

Alvie moved to ElDorado Arkansas and met the love of his life Ada Washington, they were married in 1957, and from that, the union they had eight children. They moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas in 1960 where they started their life until the homegoing of his wife in 1968, God blessed him with the honor to find love again in 1971 to Mae Lee Pinckney and they became married in 1971 until the passing of his wife in 2011 (40 years) what a blessing. To that Union, God bless them with a daughter.



A time to serve

Alvie was a member of the United States Army for two years. During his time in Hot Springs for 68 years, he had been a member of the Saint Thomas Baptist Church, and have been one of the lead singers in many Gospel groups in the city. Mostly known for the group (The Word Singers). Anyone who knew Alvie, better known as 'Jabbo' knows that he loves to sing, he would sing anywhere at any time and just enjoyed himself in the Lord.



A time to plant

Since his time in Hot Springs, Jabbo has worked various jobs at Frankie's cafeteria, Round Table, Arlington Hotel, and the National Park Services. He had the privilege to retire from the National Park Service and went back to work with the Arlington Hotel and retire from there also.



A time to mourn and rejoice

Although we mourn, we don't as those with no hope we rejoice in the fact that we will see him again. He leaves a void in the heart of three sons, Nathaniel of California, Alvie Jr, and Terry (Gwendel) of Hot Springs, three daughters, Bobbie JoAnn, Brenda (Dorris), and Angela all of California, Bonus children, J.P. McIntosh, Louise Walker, Mary Pinckney, Gwen Pinckney, LaTosha Pinckney, and Dominique Roberts. Twenty-six grandchildren, Fifty-seven great-grandchildren, special cousin Dee Dee Turner, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Visitation will be Friday, February 11, 2022, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM New Beginning Christians Ministries
323 E. Grand AVE HOT SPRINGS, Arkansas 71901 The Funeral service will be Saturday, February 12, 2022, 10:00 AM St Mark Baptist Church 542 Crescent Ave Hot Springs, Arkansas 71901
