Jonah McClure in his 91st season made his earthly transition on Friday, August 3, 2012 in National Park Medical Center. It was on August 2, 1921 in Okolona, AR when he was born the son of the late Grant and Alice Hudson McClure. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Willie Mae Ross, Clara Mae Dixon, Noble Price, Gertrude McClain, Tiny Ford, Dora Amos, Henry McClure, Isam McClure and Arthur McClure

He was the owner of Jonah McClure's Sanitation Service and a former employee of Oaklawn Racetrack and a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He leaves a lasting impression in the heart of his wife, Lois Hopson McClure of Hot Springs; one son, Jessie Hopson of Hot Springs; three grandchildren, Rodney, Lamont and Shay Hopson; one brother, Edward McClure of Phoenix, AZ, two sisters, Virginia Smith of Portchester, NY and Louise Dugain of Bronxz, NY ; a host of nieces including, Delois (Clarence) Kelly and Ratesa (Thomas) Logan of Hot Springs whom they reared, nephews and extended family.

A celebration of life will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Union Baptist Church 219 Gulpha St. Hot Springs with Rev. Douglas E. Jones, Pastor and Apostle Thomas Logan Eulogist. Burial will follow in Crestview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
