William J. Green Jr, 86, of Hot Springs peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 9th, 2019, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born April 9, 1932 to Johnny Greene and Carrie Bell Brown in Lewisville, AR.; Deacon Green was a devoted member of the Historic Eureka Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and Trustees, a member of the Senior Choir, and Sunday School Superintendent. He retired from Reynolds Metal Company after 36 years of service. In 2017, he was presented with a Life Time Achievement Award for his work as Treasurer for the local chapter of the NAACP. He also served as Treasurer for the Langston Reunion Committee. He was an avid fisherman and loved to be on the water.

Deacon Green married the late sister Mary E. Green on December 22nd, 1951. In this Union they were blessed with seven children. Five boys and two girls.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary E. Green, his son William J. Green III "Dolla Bill", his parents, and four brothers: Leon Brown, Frank Black, Robert E. Williams and David Lee.

Survivors include his Aunt/Mother, Annie Mae Jackson, of Hot Springs; children: Henry (Kellie) of Hot Springs, Timothy (Arlean) of Hot Springs, Paula Crain (Gregory) of Malvern, AR, Paul of Lexington, Kentucky, Carolyn of Anchorage, Alaska and Mark of Hot Springs; two nephews: Arthur Pertile (Renita) of Katy, TX, Randy Pertile of Midland, TX; one niece, Beverly Agomuo of Houston, TX; three brothers: Londell Brown, Clyde Lee and Lonnie Lee; five sisters: Alice Williams, Mamie Robinson, Lottie Burney, Ruby Martin-Prelow (Maurice), and Shirley Parker and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Deacon Green's Home Going Celebration will be held at 11:00 am. on Friday, January 18, 2019, at Historic Eureka Baptist Church in Hot Springs. His pastor, Rev. Dr. Steven R. Lake will deliver his eulogy. A visitation will be held at the church, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm., on Thursday, January 17, 2019. His earthly body will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Mary at Crestview Cemetery in Hot Springs. A repast will be at the Webb Community Center, 127 Pleasant St. Hot Springs, AR. 71901.

There will be no viewing the day of the funeral, only at the visitation on Thursday, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
