Lady Gayle Sanders Hurst, 79, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2017. She was born November 6, 1937, in West Helena, Arkansas, to Charles Frank and Rebecca Pansy Carnathan.

She is predeceased by her parents; late husband, Henry Jefferson Sanders, Jr.; brother, Frank Carnathan; and niece, Susan Carnathan.

Gayle was a devoted registered nurse who dedicated 40 years of service to St. Joseph Sisters of Mercy Hospital. As O.R. Supervisor, Gayle united the surgical team with a focus on caring for each individual patient.

Loving survivors include her husband, Elmer O. Hurst, Jr., of Hot Springs; son, Hank and Amy Sanders, of Hot Springs; daughter, Tammy Moss, of Flower Mound, Texas; grandchildren, John Moss, Jennifer and Drew Mazur, CJ Moss; great-grandson, Remy Mazur; sisters-in-law, Sara and Mark Thamer, Sr., Deloris Carnathan; nephew, Robert Thamer II; nieces, Julie Carnathan, Debbie Carnathan, Lori Carnathan; step-son, Allen and Lori Hurst; step-daughters, Becky and Ray Sebren, Suzi and Tony Ellis, Dana and Jeff McGee, Angie and Jerry Davis; along with 20 step-grandchildren; and 18 step-great-grandchildren, who lovingly came into her life when she and Overton married 13 years ago.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday and services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

A private burial will follow for family at Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be CJ Moss, Drew Mazur, David Stone, Raymond Sebren, Allen Hurst, and Mark Thamer, Sr.

Honorary pallbearers are John Moss, Robert Thamer II, and the Doctors and Staff of St. Josephs and Mercy Hospitals that impacted her life so deeply as they together saved countless others for four decades.
