Sarah Elizabeth Hortman, 86, of Hot Springs, went to the Lord on Friday, November 17, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Sykes and Elizabeth Roberson, two brothers, John Sykes and Robert Sykes, and her loving husband of 45 years, Ernie Hortman.
Together, she and Ernie founded multiple businesses in the corrugated box and printing papers industries. Sarah was an adventurer and avid world traveler. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and a blessing to those who crossed her path.
Sarah is survived by two sons, Wayne Hortman (Susan), Robert Hortman; one daughter, Lisa Mitchell (Mike); 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and her precious dog Maggie.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church and enjoyed her church activities until she was physically no longer able.
Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.
A celebration of Sarah’s life will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 20, 2017 at the funeral home with Rev. John McCallum and Rev. Mike Pounders officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to First Baptist Church and to the staff and physicians at National Park Medical Center Med-Surg Floor, the staff at NPMC inpatient Rehab, and the staff of Arkansas Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sarah’s honor to First Baptist Church.
