Funeral services for James Clay Bowman, 87, of Route 1, Rudy, Arkansas, who died Friday, August 21, 1972, will be held at 2 p.m Monday at Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church at Van Buren, Arkansas. Burial was in Mt.McCurry Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Bob Roberts, Weldon Ballentine, Richard Kirk, Harold Hunter, J.C. Burrow and Cleo Coatney Jr. Honorary pallbearers were L. M. Burkhart, Harold Hill, Jim Pigg, Bruce Hobbs, Charlie Hobbs, Will Hobbs, Irvin Brown, Franklin Neal, Leibert Peters and Archibald Hobbs.

A retired employee of the Missouri-Pacific Railroad, he leaves his wife Sophronia, who he married June 22, 1905; eight daughters, Mrs. Elsie Coatney and Mrs. Odell Brown, all of Rudy, Arkansas, Mrs. Aline Hunter of Van Buren, Mrs. Almedia Vandiver, Mrs. Betty Carney and Mrs. Margaret Burrow, all of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Mrs. Oma Mae Bryan of Henryetta; four sons, Henry of Cheholis, Washington, James of Van Buren, Clyde of Davenport, Washington and John of Fort Smith 37 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Sophronia Bowman, 84, of Fort Smith, Arkansas were held Wednesday afternoon at the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Rupert Pixley officiating. Burial was at Mt. McCurry Cemetery with Edwards Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Bowman, who died Sunday, was a member of the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by eight daughters; Alemida, Betty and Margaret, all of Fort Smith; Amanda Brammer, Claceial and Elsie Coatney all of Rudy; Allene of Van Buren and Oma Mae of Alma; three sons, Henry of Cheole, Washington, Bill of Van Buren and Clyde of Davenport, Washington; 37 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.
