Orvel Howard Thomas, 77, of Van Buren died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at a local hospital.

He was retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department after 21 years.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Eugenia; two daughters, Elaine Bush of Muldrow and Lorraine Farmer of Fort Smith; three sons, Lee Thomas of Alma, Randy Thomas of Sardis, Miss., and David Thomas; one sister, Dorothy Neal of Van Buren; one brother, Gene Thomas of Alma; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held Jan. 4 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Glenn Cameron, Todd Thomas, Chuck Neal and Ken Redding.

Eugenia Thomas of Alma, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, in a local nursing home. She was born in Crawford County.

She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orvel Thomas.

She was survived by several stepchildren; four sisters, Ida Mae McKown of Springdale, Ilene Hauck of Pryor Lake, Minn., Mary Ramey of Alma and Joann Redding of Alma; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was Friday, November 27, 2009 at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
