John Earl Sullivan, 75, of Route 3, Alma, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 22, 1987 at his home.

A retired teacher with the Mountainburg, Greenland, Altus and Ozark school systems, he was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church, Gideons International, Optomost Association and Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving are his wife; two step-daughters, Claire and Beth; a son John; a stepson Kenner; a sister, Pauline; two brothers, Grady and Marvin and nine grandchildren.

Fluneral services were held Tuesday at Mountain View United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerry Pulliam officiating. Burial was at Gracelawn Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.

Dorothy Claire Sullivan, 92, of Alma, Arkansas passed away Friday; January 18, 2013 in a local nursing home.

She was born October 28. 1920 in Enterprise, Oregon to her late parents; Richard Earnes Roller and Myrtle Gamble-Roller.

She was a retired 1st grade teacher who worked for the Fort Smith Public Schools. She had been an active member of the Mountain View Methodist Church since 1966 when she and her husband moved to Dean Springs, Arkansas. After retirement, Dorothy was a volunteer for Sparks Hospital, The Crawford County Literacy Council, and the Alma Outreach Center. For over 15 years she served as the secretary for the local chapter of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by two daughters; Beth Wood of Talco, Texas and Claire Pence of Alma, two sons; John L. Sullivan of Farmington Hills, Michigan and Kenner Pound of Sealy, Texas; a sister Eloise Peper of Portland, Oregon; twelve grandchildren, Scotti Wood of Kilgore, Texas, Stan Wood of Talco, Texas, Tim Lumpkin of Alma, Melanie Wiggins of Maumelle, Arkansas, James Pound of Sealy, Texas, Steven Pence of Moore, Oklahoma, Mary Beth Boen of Dardanelle, Arkansas, Karin Sullivan, Craig Sullivan, and Brian Sullivan all of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Leah Hardin of Houston, Texas and Shannon Owens of Puerta Vallerta; twenty one great grandchildren, Rebekka, Abigail, Caitlin, Hagan, Davis, Dakota, Piper, Baylee, Liz, Samantha, Lindsay, Allissa, Nick, John, Patricia, Liz, Cadence and Mary.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Sullivan; two sisters, Martha Roller and Francis Benguin; a brother, Paul Roller and a grandson, Brian Sullivan.

Funeral service will be Monday, January 21st, 2013, 10:00am at Ocker Chapel in Alma with Reverend Justin Allen Officiating.
Burial will be at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren.

Pallbearers will be Stan Wood, Tim Lumpkin, Dakota Lumpkin, Hagan Wiggins, Wake Wood, Paul Adams, Mike Coleman and Jerry Griffin.
