United States Air Force Captain Charles Morgan. He was backseater aboard an F-105F Thunderchief on a mission over North Vietnam. The aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire about 35 miles northwest of Hanoi,& evidently hit the side of a mountain. There were no indications either pilot, Major Roosevelt L Hestle, Jr or then Captain Morgan exited the aircraft or initiated their emergency beepers. The men were classified as Missing In Action. On July 31, 1989, his remains were returned & subsequently identified the following April. He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Major.
